Elgin Introduces New Regenerative Air Crosswind
Elgin's new Crosswind regenerative air sweeper gives contractors, municipalities and industries a powerful sweeper with unequaled versatility, flexibility and productivity. Re-engineered to be a more powerful and durable machine, the Crosswind offers outstanding sweeping performance for better pick up and catch basin cleaning.
The vehicle's high-capacity hopper and large water tank maximizes the amount of time spent on the job. Options give the Crosswind flexibility to meet specific needs of each application, whether working at a construction site or sweeping city streets. The Crosswind's uniquely designed impeller creates 17,000 cfm of air. This powerful air flow results in unmatched performance, consistently cleaning roadways in one, cost-effective sweeping pass. The sweeper's vacuum hose/intake tube features a quick-disconnect system that allows for fast and easy inspections and clean outs.
Debris is held in the Crosswind's large 8 cu. yd. (6 cu.m.) hopper, while a 240 gal. (908 L) water tank provides ample water for dust suppression. The standard sweeper engine is the heavy-duty John Deere 4045 TF 100 hp turbo diesel, which offers exceptional power, excellent fuel efficiency and an extended service life.
This combination of the features — large hopper, high volume water tank and outstanding fuel efficiency — allows the Crosswind to stay on the job longer between dumping, refilling of water and refueling. Optional equipment includes a larger 115 hp John Deere 4045 TF engine for better performance at higher elevations.
Additionally, trailing arm side brooms increase efficiency even more by cleaning a wide, 12-foot (3660 mm) sweep path. Eighteen water nozzles located at the brooms, intake tube, hopper inlet and pickup head lubricate the sweep system and keep dust under control. Regenerative air flow also helps keep dust and debris in the hopper without returning to the environment. The tilting hopper allows debris to easily slide out and dump. An optional hopper deluge system quickly washes out the hopper and makes hopper cleaning fast and easy.
